Oral & Facial Cancer Exams

Receiving a cancer diagnosis is one of the most troubling times in a patient’s life. Cancer of the face or mouth strikes at the source of a patient’s identity and involves much of who we are. Dr. Clayhold recognizes the emotional challenges faced by cancer patients and strives to care for his patients with the highest level of compassion.

Oral Cancer

Most forms of cancer in the mouth are discovered as an ulcer or sore that will not heal. During an oral exam, we look for signs of oral cancer. If any suspicious areas are found, a biopsy will be taken and sent to a lab to establish a diagnosis. If it is malignant, Dr. Clayhold will discuss the best method of treatment and refer you to a specialist if necessary.
